23.09.08: Update September
It’s been a while since the last newsflash and the change in personnel, but we’ve been quit busy. Now, some 5 gigs later, you can say things are working out very well. After learning and modifying the old repertoire with the new members, we had our first gig at the Valkhof-Affaire. We managed to create a set on time and for a first gig with a new line-up it wasn’t bad. After this there was finally time to get creative, and so we did. We played Huntenpop soon after that and then Appelpop was up next. This lovely festival offered us a nice audience and a great stage to perform. For the first time we played new songs, co-written by the ‘new’ band, and it felt good. Sanne & Matthijs influence the music both in their own way, we’re very happy to have them with us! It’s not only the music we’re working on, the website has been changed also. Check out the new photo gallery, the wild animals are gone and have been replaced by pictures of us monkeys on stage. We are now collecting all photographic material of Anavarin, so if you have some wacky pictures, please send them to

and maybe we’ll even put them online. Unfortunately we had to cancel our gig at the Stage coming Friday. Some miscommunication resulted in a situation we couldn’t resolve. Our apologies go out to the Stage and people who wanted to see us. But again, we will be back (for real this time) to make it up, big time. And don’t forget Noise & Diggeth will play as planned, so go check them out! We’ll keep you posted.
02.07.08: Susan leaves Anavarin, the show must go on
Bassplayer and vocalist Susan Daanen has decided to leave Anavarin. Different thoughts about the band’s future led to this break up, although all was discussed in good spirits. Susan was one of the founding members of the band and played for three years. Sad to see her leave, we wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
As we all know, shit happens, but we have to move on. The summer gigs are coming up (13th of July at Valkhof-Affaire, the 23rd of August at Huntenpop and the 13th of September at Appelpop) and of course we’re not going to cancel them. After some phonecalls Anavarin is now a five-piece band. Susan will be replaced by Matthijs Quaijtaal on bassguitar and Sanne Hemmer (Breaktrack) will take on vocals and additional guitars. With five members we will be more powerful than ever, so come check us out in this new formation, starting in Nijmegen:

10.06.08: More summer festivals
The good news keeps on coming. After Appelpop also the Valkhof Affaire and Huntenpop invited us to play at their festival. Kind of surprised we were indeed, we’ve been going to these festivals for a couple of years now, to be on stage there this summer will be an amazing experience.
So no sunbathing and relaxing for us this summer, there's work to do! Preparing for these gigs, writing new songs and improving some of the older ones. Besides this, we’ll keep on working on our sound as a whole. With some experienced people around us, lending us their ears, the band is going to sound better than before.
One slightly less positive message, our gig at the Stage on the 27th of June got cancelled due to medical problems with one of the members of King Locust, we wish him all the best. But no worries, King Locust and Anavarin will be back somewhere after the summer to rock your brains out.

04.05.08: Anavarin at Appelpop!
Yesterday some very good news came from the press. This summer Anavarin will play at one of the most easy going and beautiful festivals in the neighbourhood, Appelpop. Together with 4 other local bands we are selected to prove that Gelderland has lots of musical talent. With already confirmed headliners like Krezip, the Boss Hoss, Within Temptation and our friends from Aqua de Annique, it will definitely be a good place to hang out, party and enjoy some rockin' tunes.
Some other news, the Groesrock festival at OJC Maddogs has been postponed one week. The new date is the 14th of June. Kind of lucky for us, now we don't have to play two gigs in one day and we can get drunk in Groesbeek, that's always fun.
Also thanks for the support at Oranjepop, we really enjoyed playing some acoustic songs, especially in such a great atmosphere. So maybe, when the time is right, we'll do it again. But until that day we'll carrry on making noise big time. First stop, tomorrow in Wageningen. Come support us as Kabaal am Gemaal, we'll see you there!
10.04.08: Supporting Agua de Annique We are proud to announce that we will support Agua de Annique on May 3rd at OJC Nirwana in Lierop. After supporting well known Dutch rockers VanKatoen yesterday at Merleyn, we again will share the stage with a great Dutch band we like. For the people who aren't yet familiar with Agua de Annique, this relatively new band is formed around ex-Gathering singer Anneke van Giersbergen. With their first album 'Air' they are now rocking throughout the country, and the 3rd of May we will join them! Curious? Check out their music on MySpace. It will be a busy couple of days. We'll play 5 shows in 11 days, for us that's a new experience. Maybe this will get us used to the feeling of being on tour, a dream we hope to achieve one day... 29.03.08: New website alive & kicking! Finally it's here, the red metal-logo belongs to the past and has been replaced by all of this. Our brand new website is designed by our friends at Elevate Promotions, you know, the same guys who did the artwork for our demo 'Morning Haze'. Together we are working on some details, but we couldn't keep it a secret no longer. Tell us what you think by leaving a message in our guestbook. For some good stoner-rock music, get your ass over to Merleyn, wednesday April 9th. We'll be playing with Barbarella & VanKatoen, one hell of a line-up! More Anavarin news will follow shortly, some cool acoustic video's are on their way. April 30th we'll play an acoustic set at Oranjepop, probably a once in a lifetime opportunity to see us 'naked'. Love - Anavarin 04.03.08: Anavarin wins Kabaal Regionaal! It was a busy weekend. Friday & Saturday we were on the road to perform in Ysselsteyn and Wageningen. It were the first gigs after our release in December, so we were happy to be back on stage again. And, against all odds we were amongst the winners at the Kabaal Regionaal contest. We had the honours to open the festival and apparently we did this well. Together with Irritation and Prima Nocte we'll play at the Kabaal am Gemaal festival on the 5 th of May. It will be the biggest Anavarin show till now so don't miss it! Other news, 3voor12 asked us to record some acoustic songs at the Paasconcerten. After some consideration we are happy to announce that it's going to happen; Anavarin goes acoustic. Results can be found sometime after that weekend on the local 3voor12 website, youtube and of course on our own myspace and website. Last but certainly not least, we will support VanKatoen at Merleyn, the 9 th of April. In the early stages of Anavarin we tried to get in touch with the guys from VanKatoen, but without any luck. Now our luck has changes! Come check it out…
